How to fly the Rust Minicopter: full control list (W/S throttle, mouse pitch, A/D yaw), where to buy one (Bandit Camp AirWolf), and beginner mistakes.
The Minicopter is the entry-level helicopter, sold at Bandit Camp's AirWolf shop for 750 scrap. Cheap, fast, surprisingly hard to fly until you get the controls down.
Travel to Bandit Camp, find the AirWolf shop (small building near the parking pad). 750 scrap. The Minicopter spawns on the pad — wait for it to be visible before buying another.
Approach the front seat and press E. The HUD changes to flight mode.
Press the inventory key (Tab) while seated to access the fuel slot. Add Low Grade Fuel (LGF). Each LGF gives ~30 seconds of flight at standard throttle.
W = throttle up (rises and accelerates forward). S = throttle down (descends). Mouse forward/back = pitch (nose up/down). Mouse left/right = roll. A/D = yaw (rotate without tilting).
Reduce throttle to ~10% on approach, level the rotor, gently touch down. Hard impacts damage the heli. Always bring a hammer to repair after rough landings.
Sit in the pilot seat and add Low Grade Fuel via inventory. Then press W to start throttling up. The rotor spins automatically once you have throttle input.
750 scrap at Bandit Camp's AirWolf vendor. The bigger Scrap Transport Helicopter is 1250 scrap. Both spawn on the parking pad behind the AirWolf shop.
Yes — hard impacts damage and eventually destroy it. Spinning the rotor into the ground or buildings is the fastest way to lose one. Land slow.
Sit in the pilot seat, press Tab for inventory, and put Low Grade Fuel in the fuel slot. Each LGF gives ~30 seconds of flight.
