Five-level underground bunker. Red card opens the elevator. 26+ scientists.
Endgame puzzle monuments. Multi-card progression, scientist NPCs, high radiation, often multiple fuses. Top-tier rewards (elite crates, blueprints, weapons) and the focal points of every late-wipe meta.
| Keycards | 1× Red |

| Scientists / NPCs | 26+ (4 patrol blue + 22+ heavy underground) |
| Radiation | 25-50+ (full hazmat required) |

Nuclear Missile Silo is the underground red-card-only Tier 3 monument — five floors of heavy NVGM scientists (26+ total), a doomsday-missile event with a launch countdown, no recyclers, no workbenches, and the most-hazardous single monument run in the game. Loot is top-tier (multiple Elite Crates, scientist drops, the launch-event reward) but the run is among the hardest in Rust.
Single-card descent with multi-floor combat:
Just a single red keycard plus one electrical fuse for the elevator. Notably, no green or blue card required despite the Tier 3 status.
26+ total. 4 surface 'blue' scientists patrolling the perimeter, plus 22+ heavy NVGM (night-vision-mode) scientists distributed across 5 underground floors.
25-50+ rads — among the highest in the game. Full hazmat is mandatory and even that may not be enough for sustained presence; bring radiation pills or Anti-Rad Tea.
No — Missile Silo has no on-site recycler, no workbench, no research table. It's purely combat and loot. Recycle the loot at Outpost or Bandit Camp.
A central-chamber feature where a missile is on a launch countdown. The countdown can be interacted with to trigger or delay launch. Getting caught at the launch chamber during launch is fatal — clear the floors first, then engage the event.
Possible but extremely punishing — 26+ scientists in a closed underground environment with very high radiation. Duo or trio strongly recommended for safer clears.
Nuclear Missile Silo is the most-difficult single monument PvE encounter in Rust. The combination of 26+ NVGM scientist defenders across 5 floors, very high radiation, no on-site recycler or workbench, and the doomsday-missile event mechanic makes it the apex challenge in Rust's monument-design ladder. Successful clears are wipe-defining events.
The reward profile reflects the difficulty. Multiple Elite Crates per floor, scientist drops including NVGM gear (a unique armour visual), and the launch-event reward make a successful Silo clear one of the highest single-event loot returns in Rust. Many late-wipe groups treat a Silo clear as the wipe-end ritual — final big loot run before wipe-day.
NVGM scientists' night-vision-mode AI gives them longer engagement ranges and better target tracking than standard heavies. The narrow underground corridors mean engagements are often at point-blank range with no time to retreat. Use door-frames as corner cover, don't move backward in straight lines, and keep medkits accessible.
