Bear Pie interaction, which tier to use, and exactly how much extra ore you get per node with a jackhammer.">
How ore tea stacking works, the Bear Pie interaction, which tier is worth brewing, and exactly how much extra ore you get per node.
Ore tea is one of the most valuable consumables in Rust for anyone who farms metal, sulfur or stone. At pure tier with a Bear Pie, you're getting 75% more ore from every single node โ that's 75 extra sulfur ore from a node that would normally give 100. Over a mining session, it stacks up fast.
This guide covers exactly how ore tea works, how to stack it correctly with Bear Pie, and the real numbers per node so you can calculate your returns.
Ore tea comes in three tiers, each requiring more berries to brew. The recipe uses Yellow and Blue berries: 2ร Yellow + 2ร Blue for every tier, with each upgrade step requiring 4 of the previous tier.
All tiers last 30 minutes โ drink one before a mining run and it'll cover a full cave or monument sweep. Ore tea stacks with itself across different types but not with two of the same type. You can drink a Wood Tea and an Ore Tea at the same time.
Bear Pie doubles the strength of your active harvesting tea โ but cuts the duration in half. This is the most important interaction in the game for resource farmers.
Yes, if you're actively mining. 75% bonus for 15 minutes beats 60% for 30 minutes โ as long as you can actually mine for 15 solid minutes. If you're doing quick in-and-out runs between a monument and your base, Bear Pie + Pure Ore Tea is the optimal combo every time.
No, if you're semi-AFK. If you're chatting, building, or not actively hitting nodes, you'll waste half the duration. In that case just use Pure Ore Tea on its own for the full 30 minutes.
These are the actual ore yields per node using a jackhammer, based on wiki-confirmed base values. All figures assume 100% efficiency (no interruption, full node mined).
| Node | Base yield | +20% Basic | +40% Advanced | +60% Pure | +75% Pure+Bear |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metal ore node | 1,000 | 1,200 | 1,400 | 1,600 | 1,750 |
| Sulfur ore node | 1,000 | 1,200 | 1,400 | 1,600 | 1,750 |
| Stone node | 1,000 | 1,200 | 1,400 | 1,600 | 1,750 |
| HQM node | 30 | 36 | 42 | 48 | 52 |
Multiple teas can be active at the same time โ but there are important rules about which ones stack.
Wood Tea stacks with Ore Tea. You can drink both simultaneously. They affect different resources so they don't conflict. Ore Tea boosts metal, sulfur and stone; Wood Tea boosts wood harvesting from trees.
Bear Pie stacks with any harvesting tea โ it boosts the tea by 50% regardless of type. One Bear Pie boosts all active harvesting teas simultaneously.
Scrap Tea stacks with Ore Tea. Scrap Tea only affects barrel drops, not node mining, so there's no conflict.
Two Ore Teas of any tier do not stack. If you drink a Basic Ore Tea and then a Pure Ore Tea, only the Pure counts โ the stronger one overrides. Always drink your strongest tier and don't waste the weaker ones.
Two Wood Teas do not stack with each other by the same rule.
Ore tea uses Yellow and Blue berries in a 2+2 pattern. To brew pure tier consistently you need a lot of berries โ 64 per pure tea. A dedicated berry farm is the only sustainable source at that volume.
One pure ore tea = 64 berries. If you mine once a day for 15 minutes, that's 1 pure tea daily = 64 berries/day. A small farm of 2 large planters with YYYYYY berries at 100% conditions produces around 33 berries per hour, or roughly 800 per day โ enough for 12 pure teas daily.
Ore Tea needs 2 Yellow and 2 Blue for every brew at every tier. Grow both equally. Yellow berries are also used in Max Health Tea and Scrap Tea, so if you're making multiple tea types, Yellow is the more versatile crop.
