The M92 is the T3 evolution of the Semi-Auto Pistol — same fire rate and damage profile, but a 15-round magazine instead of 10. That extra capacity makes it the de facto raid-meta pistol: enough rounds to handle a defender plus follow-up shots without reload pressure.

Pro tips

Frequently asked questions

How is the M92 different from the SAP?

Same damage, same fire rate, same ammo. Difference is the magazine: M92 holds 15 rounds vs SAP's 10. T3 craft tier vs T2. The extra 5 rounds make the M92 noticeably better for sustained engagements.

Can you craft the M92 in Rust?

Yes — T3 workbench. Default-known after the blueprint is researched. Standard pistol body + metal frags + spring craft.

M92 vs Python — which is better?

M92 has the bigger magazine (15 vs 8 rounds) and faster fire rate. Python has higher per-shot damage and a more iconic feel. Most competitive players prefer M92 for the capacity; Python is the connoisseur pick for high-skill 1-tap headshot players.

When to use the M92 Pistol

The M92 is Rust's tier 3 pistol — high-mag, accurate semi-auto sidearm. It's what established players carry instead of SAP/Python because the 15-round magazine and improved hipfire actually let it function as a credible secondary in a sustained fight, not just a single-shot finisher.

Effective range is 0-25 metres. Past 25m the SAR or M39 outperforms by a wide margin. The M92's role is **rifle backup** — when your primary is empty or you've been caught at close range and need 15 rounds of pistol fire to win the trade.

Loadout & attachments

The M92 accepts standard pistol attachments — same loadout philosophy as SAP but at higher tier:

M92 Pistol vs alternatives

Vs **Python**: Python has higher per-shot damage, lower mag (8 vs 15). M92 wins sustained engagements; Python wins one-shot ambush trades.

Vs **SAP**: M92 is strictly better — bigger mag, higher damage, longer range. The progression is SAP → M92 once you have T3.

Vs **Revolver**: Revolver is for memes or nostalgia. M92 dominates.

Vs **MP5 / SMG**: SMGs win by fire rate at sustained range. M92 wins as a backup that doesn't take a rifle slot.

Common mistakes

Kit & pairing

Pair the M92 with an **AK47**, **LR300** or **M39** primary. The M92 is the standard 'I'm out of rifle ammo' panic backup. Drink **Pure Max Health Tea** for raids and major engagements. Run **Metal Facemask + Roadsign** at minimum — M92 is a late-wipe gun, you need late-wipe armour to back it up.
